Module 1 covers the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Getting Started. Please answer the discussion questions and respond to others for each module by clicking 'Discussion' above, then complete the project for each module. Introduction Questions:

· Where does your school or district stand at present on the three themes of the PLC conceptual framework listed on page 3?
· What do you know (brief summary) about PLC’s right now?
· What are you hoping to achieve by the end of the summer in terms of a PLC? (Please be as specific as possible so we can work as a team toward your goal.)




Chapter 1 Questions:

· How would you describe the collaboration at present in your grade level/school/district?
· What information/background on effective schools and best practices would you like to have? (What do you wish you knew more about?)
· For your school or system, what are the essentials, in your opinion?
· Where is your school/district in terms of prioritized curriculum and common assessment?
· Take a look at your school improvement plan. How does it compare to the table on page 24?
· Pick a school (or your own) in your district. Describe what you see upon entering the building. What is honored? What is the atmosphere?
· List some ways in which students and/or teachers could be recognized and celebrated in your school.




Module 1 Project: (Due by May 20th)

Either alone or with a group, use the information from the Introduction and Chapter 1 to develop a mission statement, vision, values, and goals for your grade level, school, or district. Post these by May 20.
